動(dòng)物類諺語和習(xí)語

有些諺語和習(xí)語在漢語中有相應(yīng)的說法：
Barking dogs do not bite.吠犬不咬人
The best fish swim near bottom.好魚居深淵
To kill two birds with one stone.一石二鳥
To ride the tiger.騎虎難下
To shed crocodile tears.掉鱷魚眼淚
漢語中若沒有與英語相同的諺語和習(xí)語，但與漢語中有關(guān)其它動(dòng)物相近或類似的說法：
Dog doesn't eat dog.虎毒不食子
If the shepherds quarrel,the wolf has a winning game.鷸蚌相爭(zhēng)，漁翁得利
Love me, love my dog.愛屋及烏
A lion in the way.攔路虎
A rat in a hole.甕中之鱉
As wet as a drowned rat.濕如落湯雞
Like a cat on hot bricks.像熱鍋上的螞蟻
When the cat is away, the mice will play.山中無老虎，猴子稱大王
To lock the stable door after the horse is stolen.亡羊補(bǔ)牢
另外一些動(dòng)物類詞語，漢語中沒有對(duì)應(yīng)的諺語和習(xí)語，但與漢語中非動(dòng)物類諺語和成語較接近：
Better a living dog than a dead lion.好死不如賴活著
Birds of a feather flock together.物以類聚，人以群分
It's an ill bird that fouls its own nest.家丑不可外揚(yáng)
To beard the lion in his den.太歲頭上動(dòng)土
The best fish smell when they are three days old.久住招人嫌
Fish begins to stink at the head.上梁不正下梁歪
Fight dog, fight bear.不獲全勝不收兵
The cat shuts its eyes when stealing cream.掩耳盜鈴
The leopard can't change its sports.本性難移
May as well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb.一不做二不休
To put the cart before the horse.本末倒置
He who has a mind to beat his dog will easily find a stick.欲加之罪，何患無辭
Never offer to teach fish tow swim.切莫班門弄斧

剩下的是英語中原有的具有獨(dú)特風(fēng)格和特色的動(dòng)物類諺語和習(xí)語，一般可直譯，但需要結(jié)合英語語言的背景作具體理解：
